Progress on the Japanese Art Quilt from From My Carolina Home

This past week has seen significant progress on the art quilt with the Japanese fabrics. I showed the base last week, and I have since completed the binding. I did it in the same black as the border, so it now is framed in double black with the pieced border between.

With the base binding in progress for hand work, I worked on the two circles on the machines. The larger one was loaded on the longarm with black batting. The backing is muslin, as it will not be seen.

The Death of an Embroidery Machine from Podunk Pretties

After trying many different pens for making labels that supposedly will survive a washing machine I've learned they are all lies.  Even the archival quality fabric pens do not survive when I use Dawn dish soap to help with bleeding fabrics.  They do however last longer than sharpies and Microns.  But with each wash they fade a little more.  And that's without Dawn dish soap. The plan was to  pull out my embroidery machine to make quilt labels.  This machine was purchased in 2005 and has not been used in 8 or 9 years.  Image below is from ...

Current Projects from Mama Spark's World

I have been working so hard to finish up some of the things I had started.  I got the Economy Fox quilt finished, but only snapped this picture.  I love that border!  It took me so long to finally cut into it and then to try to get it to line up (somewhat).  I put the borders on my All Hallows Eve quilt using this pattern.  I had 3 blocks left over so made this table runner out of them.I used

Hearts Desire(d) Quilt Label from Wedding Dress Blue

A quilt this special deserves a special label.

Husband was willing (and he has the better handwriting of the two of us). I tried to keep accurate records, and he certainly wrote it out with great care and accuracy.

Baby Lincoln's Quilt from Mama Spark's World

I couldn't post this until it was received.  Little baby Lincoln received her quilt today in the mail.  You all saw the left over pieces from the Neverland fabric line and this is the quilt I made with it.  Pattern is a free one called Star Break.I LOVE this pattern and I really have enjoyed working with the Neverland fabric.  I still have quite a bit left if anyone else wants to make one.  See
